Harvard’s Fox Club Kicks Women Out After 2 Years Of Inclusivity

Harvard University’s historic Fox Club ended its co-ed status after two years by revoking the provisional memberships of nine women.

The graduate board, which revoked the memberships, is only allowing men to re-apply, Harvard’s school newspaper The Crimson reported.

The move comes after efforts to integrate the women as full members repeatedly failed to garner enough votes in August 2016 and May 2017, according to the report.

The women were given provisional membership in October 2015. No other women were admitted in the next class the following year.

Harvard has asked that all clubs become gender neutral. The Class of 2021 will be the first to be affected by a policy that will not allow members of single-gender social organizations to hold leadership positions in student groups or receive the school’s endorsement for fellowships, The Crimson reported.
