Kellyanne Conway Is ‘Sympathetic’ to Women Who Get Abortions

2 minute read

Kellyanne Conway says that she’s “sympathetic” to women who have gotten abortions.

In a new profile for New York Magazine, the senior White House adviser says that she’s never judged a woman for terminating their pregnancy — even though she “disagrees” with abortions being available to “anyone, anytime, anywhere.” In fact, she says said — without giving specific details — she’s supported people who have gone through the procedure. “I’ve driven them there. I’ve helped pay,” she says. “When you’re young, you’re thinking about the person, not the issue.”

Conway spoke at the March for Life rally in January, saying that President Donald Trump’s Administration will mean a “new dawn” for the anti-abortion movement. But in the past, she’s said that she understands why individuals favor abortion rights and does not believe that women who get abortions should be punished.

“Pro-lifers believe there are two victims in an abortion: the unborn child and the woman who felt that that was her best option,” Conway told The New Yorker last October. “We never look at her as the perpetrator — ever.”
