Muslim model [Halima Aden](http://motto.time.com/4674453/muslim-model-kanye-west-nyfw/), 19, who made history for [wearing a hijab and burkini](http://motto.time.com/4583400/halima-aden-miss-minnesota-usa-hijab-burkini/) to the Miss Minnesota USA pageant, is now making waves at Milan Fashion Week.

The model, who [inked a contract](http://fashionista.com/2017/02/first-hijabi-img-model-halima-aden) with IMG earlier this month, [walked alongside](http://www.elle.com/fashion/news/a43261/hijabi-model-halima-aden-milan-fashion-week/) Gigi and Bella Hadid for [Alberta Ferretti](http://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2017-ready-to-wear/alberta-ferretti) on Wednesday. “Embracing culture and diversity to break norms and change the thinking of modern-day fashion,” the Instagram account for Alberta Ferretti captioned a photo of Aden [in the show](https://www.instagram.com/p/BQ0jZK4D5J%5F/?taken-by=albertaferretti).

On Thursday, she [strutted down the catwalk](https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2017/feb/23/halima-aden-milan-fashion-week-hijab-muslim-girls-can) at Max Mara, which also featured [_Vogue_ cover girl Liu Wen](http://motto.time.com/4664340/ashley-graham-us-vogue-cover/). “It’s unbelievable,” Aden [told _People_](http://people.com/bodies/muslim-miss-usa-contestant-kanye-fashion-show/) about walking in West’s show. “I never thought that I would see a hijab-wearing model walking in such a prestigious event, but it makes it even more exciting that it was me.”
