From performing at the Superbowl to electrifying the crowd at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Katy Perry has probably lived out a lot of teenage dreams. And this year, the “Roar“ singer is dabbling in a new venture: Her own shoe line.
Perry told Footwear News that the line will be “vibrant, expressive and defining.” And she wants her shoes to be conversation-starters: “When I’m working or promoting music, or onstage, I don’t get the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation or meet everybody individually,” she said. “So the way I present myself can set the tone. It could be a conversation opener, just by my shoes or by the way I wear my nails — it could be [my form of] hello.”
She also wants to make her product available to all by giving them a smaller price tag than most designer shoes. “Not everybody is rich, and not everybody is excessive,” Perry said. “And everybody has more important things to spend their money on — whether it’s their children, or their family or their health. At the end of the day, your personality shouldn’t be so expensive to display.”
