After 30 Golden Globe nominations in 38 years, Meryl Streep was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at Sunday’s 74th annual Golden Globes. In what has become the biggest moment from the show’s broadcast, Streep used her acceptance speech as an opportunity to criticize president-elect Donald Trump, singling out his [mockery of _New York Times_ reporter Serge Kovaleski](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-denies-mocking-journalist-with-disability--and-demands-an-apology/2015/11/26/797e011c-9492-11e5-b5e4-279b4501e8a6%5Fstory.html), who is disabled, during a 2015 rally.

According to [Viola Davis](http://ew.com/awards/2017/01/08/viola-davis-meryl-streep-tribute/), who presented Streep with the honor on Sunday, the world sees Streep for what she is: “a muse” whose “artistry reminds us the impact of what it means to be an artist, which is to make us feel less alone.” Trump, however, [quickly responded to Streep’s remarks](http://ew.com/awards/2017/01/09/donald-trump-meryl-streep-golden-globes/), labeling her “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood.”
