Heard was awarded $7 million in the settlement this past summer, and [announced she would donate](http://people.com/celebrity/amber-heard-donates-full-7-million-divorce-settlement-to-charity/) all of the money to her two favorite charities — the American Civil Liberties Union, with a focus on battling violence against women, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she has volunteered for 10 years. A rep for the ACLU tells PEOPLE that the organization received a $350,000 gift directly from Heard on Aug. 19\. According to O’Donnell, the rest of her pledge will be made after the settlement is finalized. But the exes have been at odds over which of them would give the money to charity. A rep for Depp [previously announced](http://people.com/movies/johnny-depp-amber-heard-divorce-settlement-actor-sends-checks-to-charities/) that he would make payments directly to the Children’s Hospital and ACLU on Heard’s behalf. A member of Heard’s team [rejected Depp’s payment plan](http://people.com/celebrity/amber-heard-calls-out-johnny-depp-for-using-charity-donation-as-tax-deduction/), saying in a statement, “If Johnny wishes to change the settlement agreement, we must insist that he honor the full amount by donating $14M to charity, which, after accounting for his tax deduction, is equal to his $7M payment obligation to Amber.” The rep added that Depp should make the payment in a lump sum rather than in installments. “Johnny is obligated by the settlement to pay Amber, and she in turn will honor her pledges to Children’s Hospital and the American Civil Liberties Union,” says O’Donnell. “Amber’s commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and helping sick children is her life’s work.” O’Donnell also addresses Heard’s [recent appearance](http://people.com/celebrity/amber-heard-speaks-up-about-domestic-violence-in-emotional-girlgaze-psa/) in a video about domestic violence for the [#GirlGaze Project](http://www.girlgaze.tv/).
