Dave Chappelle Is About to Make His Saturday Night Live Hosting Debut

1 minute read

On the heels of Benedict Cumberbatch’s hosting turn on Saturday Night Live, NBC announced Dave Chappelle will make his debut as host on the late-night sketch comedy series on Nov. 12, the show’s first post-election episode.

Chappelle will be joined by musical guests A Tribe Called Quest, who will release their studio album We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service on Nov. 11.

The comedian created and starred in his own sketch comedy series, Chappelle’s Show, which aired its final episode on Comedy Central in 2006. He’s since focused on stand-up, though he also appeared in the Spike Lee film Chi-Raq.

While on the red carpet for SNL’s 40th anniversary episode, Chappelle told The Wrap of the show, “It has been a place for a lot of great entertainers to hone their skills and find a way to bridge the gap between being a nightclub act and entertaining the masses. It has been a hot bed of many, many comedy moments.”
