Three men holding clown masks and a gun fled a San Francisco mall after security guards discovered them on Sunday, police say.
The guards were on their rounds in the Westfield San Francisco Centre emergency stairwells when they encountered the men, who had two “creepy clown” masks and a gun, San Francisco Police Department spokesman Carlos Manfredi told the San Francisco Examiner. One man brandished the gun, though he did not point it at the guards, he said.
The sighting comes amid a clown craze that has taken over the country, with reports of scary clown sightings reported in more than two dozen states.
