We last saw the “Most Interesting Man in the World” in March, blasting off on a final mission to Mars. That ad from beer brand Dos Equis marked the end of the era of 77-year-old actor Jonathan Goldsmith, who held the honorific title for a decade as he fronted the beer’s successful viral advertising.
On Wednesday, Dos Equis unveiled the reincarnation of the “Most Interesting Man in the World” in a short teaser clip. What we know about him: he’s younger than Goldsmith (his hair and beard are still brown); he’s speaking Spanish and isn’t averse to casual banter with the local bartender; and, based on the rapid-fire flashbacks we get in the clip, he’s quite an adventurer (he can even crack a coconut in half with his bare hands, when the need arises). Oh, and he’ll take a Dos Equis.
The new titleholder, Augustin Legrand, is a 41-year-old man from France with rugged James Bond-style appeal. This is just the beginning of his legend, Dos Equis notes; we’ll learn more starting in October. He has pretty big shoes to fill.
