Donald Trump said top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin will be “better off” without her husband Anthony Weiner after Abedin announced she’s splitting from Weiner amid a new sexting allegation.
The Republican presidential candidate, who has previously called Weiner a “pervert,” addressed the couple’s separation in a statement Monday. “Huma is making a very wise decision. I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him.”
Trump also took the opportunity to criticize Clinton, his Democratic rival, for being “careless and negligent” in “allowing Weiner to have such close proximity to highly classified information.” The real estate mogul has previously tied Weiner to Clinton.
“Who knows what he learned and who he told? It’s just another example of Hillary Clinton’s bad judgment,” Trump added. “It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this.”
