Kanye West released the music video for “Wolves,” from his latest album The Life of Pablo, on Friday.
In the long-form video presented by Balmain, West and Kim Kardashian West wear the same sparkly Balmain getups they wore to the Met Gala, and the video appears to be the first large-scale campaign of its kind.
Musicians Vic Mensa and Sia also star, and in the video, an army of Balmain models—Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Kylie Jenner—slink along a moonlit runway around a very sad-looking West.
In the song, the rapper compares his family to biblical figures, singing, “what if Mary was in the club? Before she met Joseph around hella thugs? Cover Nori in lambs’ wool, we’re surrounded by the f-cking wolves.”
The video hopscotches between the creepy forest and the Balmain Met Gala afterparty. Apparently, all the stars are under wolf attack because life as a famous person is rougher than being Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant. (According to the music video, people always want to take your picture, tear you apart and steal your sandwiches.)
It’s all too much, which is perhaps why sad West cries his color contact eyes out, Kardashian West tears up in the same exact pattern and even the models shed a tear. The couple have starred in Balmain ads and shows before.
