[Gabrielle Giffords](http://time100.time.com/2013/04/18/time-100/slide/gabrielle-giffords/) spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday evening, offering a powerful endorsement of Hillary Clinton by telling the crowd, “Strong women get things done.” Giffords, who was shot in the head in 2011 in her home state of Arizona, took the stage to vouch for the Democratic nominee and call for [gun safety legislation](http://time.com/4372607/gabby-giffords-jo-cox-death/).When Giffords was shot, six others did not survive. Giffords led the crowd in a three-round call and response to “Are you ready?” riffing on Clinton’s “Ready” slogan (and the name of her PAC). “Hillary is tough. Hillary is courageous. She will fight to make our families safer. In the White House, she will stand up to the gun lobby.
