Breaking up is never easy, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be mutual respect and love between the split parties. Lady Gaga proved this was true when she took to Instagram on Tuesday night, following the news that she and long-time flame Taylor Kinney called it quits after five years together and getting engaged last year.
While it wasn’t quite a “conscious uncoupling” statement, Gaga’s post is bittersweet, with the pop singer noting that she and Kinney “always believed we are soulmates” and that their current relationship status was “taking a break.”
She then went on to write that their long-distance relationship and schedules complicated “the simple love we have always shared.” She ended by urging her fans to “Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”
