Adam Levine Offers to Pay for The Voice Contestant Christina Grimmie’s Funeral

On Friday night, singer and The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed at an Orlando concert at the age of 22. Amid the outpouring of support her family has received in the days since, her former The Voice coach Adam Levine has offered to pay for both the funeral and Grimmie’s mother’s flight to the event, according to the late singer’s brother.

Marcus Grimmie took to Facebook late Sunday night to share the touching news. “I found out this morning that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away,” Grimmie’s brother wrote. “Words cannot express…literally I have no words.”

Levine, who led Grimmie to a third place finish on season 6 of the NBC competition, was “absolutely devastated and heartbroken” by the young singer’s death. “Christina was a natural, a gifted talent that comes along so rarely. She was taken from us too soon,” he wrote on Twitter and Facebook Saturday. “This is yet another senseless act of extreme violence. I am left stunned and confused how these things can conceivably continue to happen in our world.”

The Maroon 5 frontman’s contributions add to the mass of donations from friends and fans that have since racked up online. The GoFundMe campaign set up to raise money for Grimmie’s family the day of her death has already raised over $125,000, more than 30 times the campaign’s goal of $4,000.

“I’m so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you,” Marcus continued. “Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten.”
