Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, released a list of 11 potential nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The list includes Steven Colloton of Iowa, Allison Eid of Colorado and Raymond Gruender of Missouri, the Associated Press reported. Also named on Trump’s list are: Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania, Raymond Kethledge of Michigan, Joan Larsen of Michigan, Thomas Lee of Utah, William Pryor of Alabama, David Stras of Minnesota, Diane Sykes of Wisconsin and Don Willett of Texas.
President Barack Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland in March to fill the vacancy left after the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, but Senate Republicans have refused to hold confirmation hearings for Garland, arguing that it should be up to the next president to appoint a replacement.
The Hillary Clinton campaign quickly responded to the list with a tweet suggesting Trump cannot be trusted with nominating Supreme Court justices.
At least one of the potential nominees on Trump’s list, Don Willett, has appeared to mock the candidate in the past. In June of last year, the Texas Supreme Court justice tweeted a haiku about the prospect of a Trump presidency:
