The company will provide “technology products and services” rather than money, according to a [company statement](http://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2016/04/29/microsofts-support-2016-republican-democratic-national-conventions/#sm.0001xijdu2wducx9zvt1wn0jybmk2). The company said it will provide similar services as well as “sponsorship of host committee activities” at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia. “We appreciate that this year’s conventions may have some more dramatic moments than in some prior years,” Fred Humphries, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of U.S. government affairs, said in a [blog post](http://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2016/04/29/microsofts-support-2016-republican-democratic-national-conventions/#sm.0001xijdu2wducx9zvt1wn0jybmk2). “This is all the more reason, in our view, to ensure that they benefit from technology tools.” A number of companies have [reduced](http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/25/opinions/corporations-shouldnt-give-to-gop-convention-reyes/) [their role](http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/31/us/politics/donald-trump-republican-national-convention.html) in the convention in the wake of Trump’s success.
