Waxman Staff Writer Apr 20, 2016 8:05 PM UTC Prince William said he and his wife Kate Middleton have not told their two-year-old son Prince George that he is a member of a royal family in a new [BBC interview](http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-36086872) aired on the eve of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. “We are a normal family,” he [told](http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-36086872) the BBC’s royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell. “I love my children the same way any father does, so we are very normal in that sense.” When asked what he thought of [critics](http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/36093458) who think of him as a “slightly reluctant royal” — nicknaming him “work-shy William” — the Duke of Cambridge said being king is “not something that’s at the top of my priority list to think about.” But now that his grandparents will both be in their 90s, he said he’ll be “the first person to put his hand up” and take on more royal responsibilities if need be.
