A man accused of burglary is in custody on Thursday after leading police on a wild car chase captured on live television, involving a run-in with a TMZ tour bus and “donuts” in the middle of a rainy highway in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrested the driver and his passenger around 3:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, local news station KTLA reported. While it lasted, the chase drew the attention of bystanders witnessing the event in person and on television and social media.
In footage captured live by local news stations, the suspects are shown dangerously driving a convertible Ford Mustang— with the top down—through downtown Los Angeles and into Hollywood, the Los Angeles Times reported. The car’s passenger occasionally danced and pumped his fist.
When the car came to a stop in South Los Angeles, it was met by cheering bystanders who hugged and high-fived the driver and passenger, posing for pictures with them before law enforcement officers arrested the pair.
