The two campaigns had [gone back and forth](http://time.com/4280032/democratic-debate-new-york-bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-negotiations/) over when and where to hold the debate, their first since March 9\. While Sanders advocated for the Brooklyn location, Clinton pushed for the April 14 date. A [tweet](https://twitter.com/BilldeBlasio/status/716994321417904128) from New York Mayor Bill de Blasio—who has [endorsed Clinton](http://time.com/4094173/new-york-mayor-bill-de-blasio-endorses-hillary-clinton/)—called for compromise and promised Sanders help with getting a new permit for a rally he’d planned for that night to take place on a different day. The debate will take place at the Duggal Greenhouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard The meeting place will be meaningful for both candidates: Clinton’s campaign is headquartered in Brooklyn (though she [reportedly](http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/06/hillary-clinton-prefers-to-work-in-manhattan.html) works mainly out of Manhattan offices when in New York) and Sanders is a Brooklyn native.
