The last time “See You Again” singer Charlie Puth teamed up with one of pop’s leading ladies, it didn’t go so well—his Meghan Trainor duet “Marvin Gaye” ended up on TIME’s worst songs of 2015 list. Now, just ahead of the Jan. 29 release of his album Nine Track Mind, Puth is having much better luck with recent Saturday Night Live guest Selena Gomez on their breezy new collaboration, “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” which ditches the cringe-worthy lyrics about a departed soul legend in favor of a tropical spin on a torch song. Who knows what will happen if these two ever perform the song live—just like Selena, Puth can’t keep his hands to himself.
