Let’s just say this right off the bat: Actress Olivia Munn and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are not engaged. Munn dispelled the rumors on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Thursday night by reading a text message exchange with her mother explaining that the two celebrities are not getting married. It’s a choice Munn later regretted when Colbert decided to have his own fun on her phone.
Munn began by reading the text thread with her mother aloud. Her mom congratulates her on the engagement and also asks why she had to find out from the Internet. Munn responds that her mom shouldn’t believe online gossip. “If I was engaged, I promise you’d be like the 8th person to know. Maybe 9th. But definitely way before the Internet.” Satisfied, Munn’s mother enthuses over the actress’ appearances on Kelly and Michael (Kelly “work out a lot I think”) and “Colberto.” Munn posted the exchange to Instagram:
Colbert proceeded to borrow Munn’s phone and text Munn’s mom, Kim, himself. “Kim Colberto here. So happy for the engagement!” Munn yelled “No!” just as he hit send. She later posted the texts to Instagram. Her mother seemed justifiably confused.
Lesson learned: Never let Stephen Colbert have your cell phone. He’ll probably text your mom.
