Comedian Sarah Silverman trolled the Internet on Christmas with a controversial tweet about Jesus.
The I Smile Back star sparked outrage on social media Friday when she wrote, “MERRY CHRISTMAS! Jesus was gender fluid!” on both her Twitter and Facebook accounts. The term “gender fluid” refers to a person whose gender may change and who does not commit to being either male or female.
Silverman, 45, followed up the joke with a vulgar post about Santa.
The posts were met with anger among some conservative groups.
“Socialist Sarah Silverman Tweets the Unthinkable About Jesus…. On CHRISTMAS,” @YoungCons tweeted.
“Jesus was gender fluid? I don’t get it. Sad attempt at humour Sarah,” another user wrote to Silverman on Facebook.
