The crowd at Sleater-Kinney’s Sunday night show in New York City enjoyed a surprise appearance from Fred Armisen, who came out to help the band perform “Rock Lobster” by the B-52s.
The appearance probably wasn’t a huge surprise to fans, since Armisen is a very close friend of Sleater-Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein. The duo also co-created the popular sketch show Portlandia. (Armisen is a musician, too, and leads the house band on Late Night with Seth Meyers.)
Armisen rocked out on the cowbell and did an impressive amount of jumping and dancing during the seven-minute song. People were very excited, as you’ll note from the screams and cheers and the woman shouting, “Oh my God! This is so awesome!”
