The Weeknd a.k.a Abel Tesfaye has had no shortage of Michael Jackson comparisons in 2015, and he’s driving the point home with his gritty new video for “In the Night,” starring his supermodel girlfriend Bella Hadid. (Between this and sister Gigi Hadid showing up in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video, it’s clear that a Yolanda Foster offspring is 2015’s hottest music-video accessory.) Music industry execs have called “In the Night” Tesfaye’s own “Billie Jean,” but the song’s epic music video has more in common with Jackson’s “Thriller” clip—except with strippers and gun violence instead of the undead and the occult. Between this video and his seven Grammy nominations, it’s safe to say the Weeknd is having a pretty good week.
