Ryan Gosling is from Canada, a fact the cast members on Saturday Night Live wouldn’t let him forget when he hosted the show.
To open the Dec. 5 show, Gosling begins talking about fond childhood memories in New York City. Show cast member Cecily Strong interrupts him, pointing out that he is actually from Canada.
“Look, not everybody is a fan of immigrants right now, so I’m not sure I want to be shouting it from the rafters,” Gosling replies.
But soon Gosling gets into the Canadian Christmas spirit with the help of Mike Myers dressed in a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, and the two sing a song with lyrics like, “We’ll club some seals and then we’ll shout, that’s what Canadian Christmas is about.”
