UFC President Says Ronda Rousey Will Get a Rematch With Holly Holm

1 minute read

UFC president Dana White confirmed that Ronda Rousey’s stunning defeat to Holly Holm will not be the last time the two women fight.

Speaking on ESPN Radio, White said there wasn’t a specific timetable for a rematch, but that “I think that if we didn’t make the rematch, me and [UFC CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta] should lose our promoters’ license… Yeah, that fight’s going to happen. I don’t know when, but that’s the fight that will happen.”

“Ronda Rousey has gone undefeated, taken the sport to another level and was beating the best women in the world in 14 seconds or 30 seconds, so she deserves a rematch,” White added. “Holly agrees she deserves a rematch, and we’ll figure it out.”

Rousey’s loss to Holm in Melbourne in November was her first career defeat.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support,” Rousey wrote on Instagram after the bout. “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”
