Microsoft and Apple have a long history of testy ads ridiculing each other’s products. So you might think a commercial in which dozens of Microsoft employees descend upon the New York City flagship Apple Store could be the most contentious spot yet.
Not so. In the commercial, filmed on 5th Avenue, Microsoft Store workers march from the company’s new location to the famous glass Apple Store just a few blocks north. But the Microsoft workers come in peace, singing a heartwarming rendition of “Let There Be Peace on Earth” with a local children’s choir as passerby and Apple employees look on.
As the spot ends, Apple employees are seen applauding the Microsoft workers’ efforts and even giving them hugs. Check out the full spot in the video above.
