Check Out the 5 Biggest Highlights from Jennifer Lawrence’s Year

3 minute read

After another banner year for Jennifer Lawrence, the 25-year-old actress was named Entertainment Weekly‘s Entertainer of the Year on Tuesday. Here are the five biggest highlights of 2015 for the star.

A Spot on Forbes’ Highest Paid Actress List

Lawrence was named the highest-paid female actor in Hollywood by Forbes in August. The Oscar-winner pulled in $52 million pre-tax in the last 12 months, which was $16.5 million more than second-ranked Scarlett Johansson, who earned $35.5 million.

A Screenplay with Amy Schumer

Lawrence announced that she and comedian Amy Schumer are writing a screenplay in which the real-life friends will play sisters. Schumer has also had a exceptional year with her sketch TV show, Inside Amy Schumer, and feature-length film debut, Trainwreck, propelling her to international stardom right alongside J-Law.

This will be the first movie that Lawrence will both write and star in.

A Gamechanging Essay

Lawrence wrote an essay addressing the gender pay gap in Hollywood that was published in Lenny Letter, a feminist newsletter produced by Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, in October. The actress wrote the piece after discovering her pay was less than her male counterparts during the Sony exectutives’ email hack.

Many prominent actors came out in support of Lawrence’s essay, including Emma Watson and American Hustle costar Bradley Cooper.

A Stellar Franchise Finale

The final installment of The Hunger Games, Mockingjay – Part 2, was released in November to an opening box office weekend of $101 million. The four-part series, which stars Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, has been a huge success since the first film debuted in 2012.

Lawrence said she has finally accepted that her time with the franchise is coming to a close. “It does feel over. It didn’t for a while and I didn’t think it would ever sink in, but it has now. It feels over. And that’s okay. It’s okay to move on,” she told EW.

Another Oscar-Worthy Role

Lawrence’s highly-anticipated third movie with David O’Russell, Joy, will premiere on Christmas day. She previously worked with O’Russell on 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, which won her an Oscar for Best Actress, and 2013’s American Hustle, which earned her an Oscar nomination.

Lawrence spoke about how much she enjoys working with O’Russell. “David and I will never, ever, ever, ever not do movies together,” she told EW. “I love him so much that sometimes I can’t talk about him without tearing up. Look! I’m tearing up. I understand every look, every eyeball move, every word he says or doesn’t say. We were made for each other.”
