Mourners across Europe observe a minute of silence for the victims of the attacks on Paris

A minute of silence was held for the victims of the attacks in France at noon Paris time on Monday.

People gathered across the city, including at a memorial created at Place de la République and locations where the violence occurred. French President François Hollande held the moment of silence with students at Paris-Sorbonne University. Afterward the crowd sang the national anthem, “La Marseillaise.”

People around the world also shared the moment of the silence, included crowds that gathered in front of French embassies in cities around the globe. World leaders at the G20 Summit in Turkey, including President Obama, also observed a moment of silence for the victims.
