Tris Prior doesn’t tell Mr. Gorbachev to tear down any walls in the new trailer for The Divergent Series: Allegiant, but blowing past obstructions is a big part of the teaser. Allegiant, the third film in the popular franchise, focuses on what Tris and her friends (and frenemies) find on the other side of an enclosed Chicago after running toward the wall at the end of Insurgent.
“People think walls separate us, but they also protect us,” says Naomi Watts’ Evelyn, last seen killing Kate Winslet’s Jeanine, in the new teaser. “Those people out there kept us in a cage for 200 years. That is not someone I want to engage with.”
So, who are “those people”? The Bureau of Genetic Welfare, embodied in the trailer by Jeff Daniels, which hoped a group of people taken from a failing society would be able to heal themselves in a “safe place” like Chicago. But now? All bets are off, and it’s up to Tris and Four (Shailene Woodley and Theo James) to save their friends.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant is out in theaters on March 18, 2016. Check out the film’s new trailer below, via BuzzFeed.
