Trevor Noah visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday night to celebrate one month of hosting The Daily Show. He told Kimmel that it’s been “insane” and a “wonderful, wonderful experience” — and then he shared the great advice his mom gave him that has kept him going.
“My mom said everything I described to her was the equivalent of having a child,” Noah said. “It’s like for months and months I was pregnant and I knew that I was gonna, one day, have to give birth to this thing, and then people would judge me on how I raise it and how I treat it. But in the end, I would be proud of it, and some days I would hate it with all my heart — but at the end of the day it would be what I created and so I’d have to live with it.”
Noah first told Kimmel this story at the Emmys, and Kimmel’s response was, “This guy’s mother is unbelievable. My mother never tells me anything like that. I was actually angry at my mother when I walked away.”
