Police and school administrators are investigating an incident at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C. that seems to have been caught on tape by another student and a parent group complained, according to WISTV.
In the video, the officer is seen to be speaking with the student, whose desk and chair he appears to push back onto the ground before pulling the student in another direction along the floor, then saying, “Put your hands behind your back.”
The Richland Two Black Parents Association condemned the video, calling it “egregious” and “unacceptable,” according to WISTV.
The student, a young woman, was in trouble for refusing to leave the classroom, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told WISTV. While the school confirmed that an incident occurred, it did not share details with the news station.
