Musical success in 2015 has become fairly straightforward. You release a few singles/Internet videos, establish your aesthetic, and then you get a big album. At least that’s how it works for cats, because Lil Bub just announced a full album.
Lil Bub, the adorable cat famous for her unique appearance (her tongue is always hanging out because of jaw problems), has dabbled in music before, such as an appearance her appearance on Run the Jewels’ recent cat-sound remix album Meow the Jewels, but Science & Magic: A Soundtrack to the Universe will be Lil Bub’s first full-length album.
“The songs on this album are her vision. Listening to these songs is the sonic equivalent to holding Lil Bub in your own arms,” frequent collaborator Andrew W.K. said in a press release. “It may seem impossible that a cat could compose an entire album of carefully crafted instrumental music, but Bub is not simply ‘a cat.’ She came from the deep unknown, on an intergalactic mission to help the people and animals of earth with her magic, talents, and otherworldly wisdom.”
Science & Magic will be released Dec. 4, but is available for pre-order now. 25 percent of profits for the album will go toward charity for special-needs pets. Watch a behind-the-scenes video about the making of the album below.
