In honor of Michelle Obama’s appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, John Legend and host Stephen Colbert sang “America The Beautiful.” Short and sweet, the two performed it from their seats. “People are going to make love to that!” Colbert said after the closing notes.
Colbert and Legend have teamed up before, most notably on A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!. During that special, Legend played a Forest Ranger, sang “Nutmeg” with the host, and joined Colbert, Elvis Costello, Feist, Toby Keith, and Willie Nelson for “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding.”
