It’s been three years since Ellie Goulding’s last studio album, but there’s been no shortage of the British singer-songwriter in 2015—she already joined forces with Major Lazer on “Powerful,” and her Fifty Shades of Grey contribution “Love Me Like You Do” spent more than 30 weeks on the Hot 100. As she preps her upcoming third album Delirium, she’s proving you can’t have too much of a good thing.
Produced by Max Martin (who’s been having another banner year with the Weekend, Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato), the new single “On My Mind” works its way between your synapses with a twitchy guitar riff and Goulding’s lightning-quick verses about a relationship’s squandered potential. She isn’t sure why she has one guy on her mind, but when it comes to this song, there’s little question.
