The erectile dysfunction medicine is one of dozens the company has dropped from its list of covered medications, [according to a report in _CNNMoney_.](http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/06/news/companies/cvs-viagra/index.html?sr=fbmoney080615CVS1030story) To be clear: you can still purchase these drugs in CVS stores, but if you’re prescription drug insurance is covered by CVS subsidiary Caremark, your insurance will no longer cover these medications as of 2016\. By that year, the number of drugs that CVS/Caremark no longer covers will be 124. That said, the prescription drug provider will offer alternative medications. In the case of Viagra, those suffering from erectile dysfunction will be able to use Cialis. In a deal announced Monday, CVS will acquire Target's pharmacies and health clinics For $ 1. 9 billion. Those businesses will be re- branded under the CVS banner and will operate as stores within Target stores. At least initially, the deal appears to be a win- win. CVS now has the consumer reach of hundreds of Target locations, which opens up a new field of potential customers. Target, which has been recovering from a $ 5 billion misadventure in Canadian expansion retains all the traffic driving benefits of its pharmacy business. But now it doesn't have to deal with the cost of actually operating its own pharmacies and clinics. In a statement Target's CEO Brian Cornell said the partnership allows Target to offer industry leading healthcare. While focusing on delivering value to Target's wellness product customers. CVS is looking for a leg up on it's industry leading competitor, Walgreen's, and it's been gobbling up expansion opportunities over the last couple of years. Just last month CVS bought nursing home pharmacy, OmniCare Incorporated, in a deal valued at $ 12. 7 billion dollars. CVS plans to open 20 new clinics in Target stores within three years of the deal's closing.
