Senator Elizabeth Warren has [criticized](https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=353&v=4IH2SRYykW8) members of Congress who want to defund Planned Parenthood.

“Do you have any idea what year it is?” Warren asked, speaking before Monday’s Senate vote on the defunding bill. “Did you fall down, hit your head and think you woke up in the 1950s or the 1890s? Should we call for a doctor?”

Warren was speaking after covertly recorded videos released by the Center for Medical Progress showed Planned Parenthood officials discussing the costs associated with fetal-tissue extraction. That footage, roundly [criticized](http://time.com/3979181/hillary-clinton-planned-parenthood-congress/) by both parties, set off a political firestorm, with Republicans alleging that the conversations proved that staffers were selling baby body parts for profit.

Senator Joni Ernst introduced a bill involving the sweeping defunding of the organization, in a bid to hit back against what, in a recent TIME [op-ed](http://time.com/3981428/the-inhumane-treatment-of-human-life/), Ernst and Senators Rand Paul and James Lankford called “callous actions that strike at the moral fabric of our society.”

In response, Planned Parenthood has maintained that the videos were taken out of context and alleges that they were edited.

The Senate later voted down the bill, but the issue is expected to resurface as Congress attempts to pass spending bills later in the year.

A majority of women, 95 % do not regret having an abortion according to a new study published in the medical journal Plus One. The study, conducted by the Bixby Center for Global Reproduction Health at UC San Francisco's School of Medicine surveyed 670 women over three years. Many women said they had an abortion because of financial reasons and it being not the right time. According to the nonprofit research organization Guttmacher Institute, seven states require that before women have an abortion, they undergo counseling about the negative psychological effects. While other studies suggest less than 5 % of women regret abortions, Many anti- abortion proponents can test that.

Depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicidal thoughts and behaviors and it's a very widespread problem. One of the study's lead researcher Doctor [ UNKNOWN ] acknowledges these emotions but says they are not long term. She told Yahoo, as we note in our 2013 paper on women's emotions one week after the abortion, We found that many women experience negative emotions, anger, sadness, guilt, regret, as well as positive emotions, relief, happiness, with relief predominating. She says the new study shows after three years most of the women were relieved at their decision.
