It’s always risky to cover Bruce Springsteen—he’s The Boss, after all—but we’re glad Hot Chip has tackled “Dancing in the Dark.” In the above clip, you’ll see the British synthpop band performing the 1984 hit at a recent show in Milwaukee, but they’ve been covering it at various shows for about a month now. (Including this past weekend’s Governor’s Ball Festival in New York City.)
They manage to take the tune and totally make it their own—adding lots of synth and keyboards and energy to it—while still maintaining its integrity. You’ll know what song you’re listening to, but it still feels like something new and exciting.
Now they just need to get Courteney Cox to dance on stage with them.
