President Obama will deliver the eulogy at the funeral mass for Beau Biden, former Attorney General of Delaware and son of Vice President Joe Biden, in Delaware this weekend.
Beau Biden’s life will be honored at a funeral mass Saturday at the St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, Del., where Obama will speak, as well as at public viewings nearby on Thursday and Friday, according to the Vice President’s office.
On Thursday, Biden will be laid out at the Legislative Hall, Delaware’s state capitol building, for public viewing between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The St. Anthony of Padua church will host two viewings on Friday afternoon as well.
All of the memorial events will be open to the public, officials said.
In lieu of flowers, Beau Biden’s wife Hallie has asked for contributions to the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children, which aims to protect children from abuse.
Biden, 46, died Saturday following a battle with brain cancer. He and his younger brother Hunter survived the 1972 car crash that killed his mother and sister. The crash happened shortly before Joe Biden officially took office as U.S. Senator; he would later be sworn in from a hospital room with his children.
