Back in 2010, comedian Louis C.K. tweeted some pretty nasty things about Sarah Palin. (We won’t repeat those things here, but trust us.) Five years later, he decided to apologize to Palin when he ran into her at the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary party.
“I’ve never in a million years apologized for anything I’ve said,” C.K. told Howard Stern in a recent interview. But this time, he said, “Something came over me emotionally.” Palin was the one who approached C.K. to tell him she thought he was funny — and that’s when he decided to say sorry for the Twitter rant.
“I’m not an insult guy,” he told Stern. “I don’t go after people, it’s not what I do.”
Palin responded to C.K.’s apology by joking, “Well, you’re a vile person.” But she also seemed to genuinely appreciate the gesture.
“Maybe it surprises people, but I was sincerely humbled and appreciative,” Palin told People.
Oh, she also said if he ever came to Alaska she’d take him fishing. So fingers crossed that actually happens.
