The Red Sox paused their game on Wednesday for a moment of silence to honor the Boston Marathon bombing victims.
The game was halted between the third and fourth innings at 2:49 p.m., the exact time the bombs exploded near the marathon’s finish line.
Boston mayor Marty Walsh declared Wednesday, the second anniversary of the attack, One Boston Day. The Red Sox also honored the victims before the game. Several victims and first responders were in attendance and two men who lost legs in the bombing threw out first pitches.
Three people were killed in the bombing and at least 264 more were injured. The attack was carried out by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan. Tamerlan was killed in a shootout with police and Dzhokhar was found guilty on all charges last week. He could be sentenced to death.
