The broadcaster is reviving its _Wizard of Oz_\-themed drama series project _Emerald City_ with a 10-episode straight to series order. The series was originally conceived as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic L. Frank Baum Oz tale, only with a _Game of Thrones_\-ian vibe from writers Matthew Arnold and Josh Friedman. NBC ordered the show early last year, and even promoted the title at Comic-Con (using the teaser poster seen above). Then NBC dumped the idea in August without having so much as cast its lead role. Now _Emerald City_ is back—and just a few weeks after the network ordered yet another _Wizard of Oz_ project, a [live version](http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/30/wiz-nbc) of the Broadway musical _The Wiz._ Perhaps _Emerald City_ is seen as a cross-promotional opportunity? This time, _Emerald City_ is being reworked by writer David Schulner, who has had his hand in several NBC projects over the last several years (_Dracula_, _Do No Harm_, _The Event_, _Kings_). Here’s the logline for the project: _In the blink of a tornado’s eye, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale and her K9 police dog are transported to another world, one far removed from our own—a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy.
