Joseph Gordon-Levitt must have left a good impression on the Muppets after his participation in 2013’s Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular, because he’s set to produce and star in the upcoming Fraggle Rock movie, EW confirms.
Fraggle Rock is the film adaptation of a Canadian TV series by the same name that debuted in 1983. The show features a society of cave-dwelling Muppets called Fraggles who live in Fraggle Rock alongside the ant-like Doozers and furry giant Gorgs.
“The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations,” Gordon-Levitt said in a statement. “Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved.”
Gordon-Levitt’s addition will set the New Regency, Henson Co. and Lisa Henson project, which has been in development since 2005, into motion.
Gordon-Levitt will also appear in an untitled Christmas comedy with Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie, and star as Edward Snowden in the Oliver Stone thriller Snowden, out Christmas Day.
