Frank Ocean [shared his rendition](http://frankocean.tumblr.com/post/108321281171) of Aaliyah’s “At Your Best (You Are Love)” on his Tumblr to celebrate what would have been the late pop singer’s 36th birthday on Friday.

Originally an[ Isley Brothers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVJzPiJufkY) tune from 1976, [Aaliyah famously covered the song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liwn4QnVtkU) in 1994 on her album _Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number_.

Ocean sings the track with a soaring falsetto, in a remarkably stripped down version of the song. At the end, the _Channel Orange_ singer tacks on an apparently unrelated sample. Ocean is [working](http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/frank-ocean-shares-soulful-aaliyah-tribute-at-your-best-you-are-love-20150117) on an anticipated LP with producers Pharrell Williams, Danger Mouse, Rodney Jerkins and Hit-Boy, _Rolling Stone_ reports.

Aaliyah and eight others were killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas in August 2001.
