They’re a stack of three. We both wear them on that finger for some reason – that’s the finger they fit on – and those are our friendship rings,” Dunham’s friend (and co-executive producer) Jenni Konner told reporters at the _Girls_ Season 4 premiere in N.Y.C. Monday night. “When they announced that she was wearing an engagement ring, I was like, ‘Yeah, to me!’ ” Konner joked. Added Dunham: “Yeah, we’re engaged to continue to work together for the rest of my life.” This isn’t the first time there have been engagement whispers about Dunham and [longtime boyfriend Jack Antonoff](http://www.people.com/article/jack-antonoff-lena-dunham-act-like-old-couple), and the _Girls_ guru – who kept her hands noticeably jewelry-free on Monday – couldn’t help but wonder why that particular ring caught everyone’s attention. “It’s funny, I have a ring that my boyfriend gave me that I wear on my right hand, and like, clearly nobody gives a s— about – it’s like a diamond!” said the [_Not That Kind of Girl_](http://www.people.com/article/lena-dunham-book-not-that-kind-of-girl) author.” And everybody was like, ‘Let’s ignore that diamond and focus on this stack of three rings.’ I definitely had a feeling, like, ‘Slow news day, dudes?'” And Dunham says the speculation in the media and on social media even (almost!) caused some momentary drama with her Bleachers rocker boyfriend’s family. “My boyfriend … was like, ‘My mom called asking if we’re engaged?’ She has a Google Alert on him,” Dunham explained. “I also just want to say, if we’re going to get engaged, we would be more creative than to do it on New Year’s Eve,” she added, before quipping: “We don’t want to be basic.” With gossip talk out of the way, Dunham was happy to chat about _Girls_, which was just renewed for a fifth season. In Season 4, which returns to HBO Jan. 11, her character, Hannah, heads to Iowa for a graduate writing program. Dunham herself has some history with the flyover states: She went to Oberlin College in Ohio for undergrad. “I actually love the Midwest and think that it gets a real bum rap.
