Ever since the wildly popular true-crime podcast Serial began in October, fans have been wondering if Saturday Night Live would dedicate any sketches to it. No way, some people thought, a podcast could never be big enough to get the SNL treatment.
But those people were wrong! The spinoff of This American Life, hosted by Sarah Koenig, was judged zeitgesty enough to earn itself a five-minute sketch — and a really, really great one at that.
Cecily Strong stars as Sarah Koenig, who investigates the story of a man named Kris, who has claimed to to leave presents in every home across the globe in just one night. Strong pulls it off beautifully — as does the person who voices Kris (who sounds just like Adnan Syed.)
