When you make your fans wait three years for a new song, you set yourself up for a backlash. Unless, of course, the song is really good. The Black Keys have just released their first new material from their upcoming album — and there’s little doubt that fans of the Ohio rockers will love it.
On “Fever”, bandmembers Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney teamed up with producer Danger Mouse to craft a psychedelic stomper with an incredibly irresistible melody. It bodes well for the direction of the Black Keys’s eighth studio album, which they announced a few days ago via Mike Tyson’s Twitter feed. (No, really). Turn Blue, the follow-up to their Grammy-winning El Camino, is due out May 13th via Nonesuch Records.
“We are always trying to push ourselves when we make a record — not repeat our previous work but not abandon it either,” Carney said of the album in a press release. “On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds. We’re excited for the world to hear Turn Blue.”
