The central character, a Navy SEAL named [Chris Kyle](http://nation.time.com/2013/02/03/chris-kyle-author-and-former-navy-seal-sniper-dies-at-38/ "undefined") — played by Bradley Cooper — logged more than 160 kills during his service in Iraq. With Eastwood’s name attached and a Christmas release date, _American Sniper_ also seems to be a likely Oscar contender.
