In case you were unaware, a Drumline sequel is happening, and it finally has a premiere date. VH1 has announced that the movie, called Drumline: A New Beat, will air on Monday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m. ET.
Yes, this is happening 12 years after the original film, but hey — the anticipation will make this that much sweeter. The star of the original film, Nick Cannon, is serving as executive producer this time around. (He’ll make an appearance in this one too, but will no longer be the leading man.)
Alexandra Shipp stars as Dani, a young percussionist from Brooklyn who arrives at the fictional Atlanta university in the hopes of being its first female drum leader. Watch a short teaser up top, and get hyped.
