Sprint car driver Kevin Ward Jr., 20, who was struck by NASCAR champion Tony Stewart’s car during a race in upstate New York; Ward had exited his crashed car and stalked onto the track to confront Stewart. RESCUED

Twenty-four roller-coaster passengers, from the Joker’s Jinx at Six Flags in Maryland, stalled near the top of the ride. It took five hours to safely remove everyone; no injuries were reported.
